Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney

 "First Lady of Drag Racing"
I used to see Shirley race in the early 80's at Orange County Dragstrip Ca.
Not only was she the first female drag racer of all time she also won the NHRA Top Fuel championship in 1977, 1980 and 1982, becoming the first person to win two and three Top Fuel titles.
She made her final drag racing pass in 2003.
Pictured here with her first husband (and mechanic) Jack Muldowney in the foreground.
Shirley and Jack's gas station.

Shirley and Don "Big Daddy" Garlets.

They made a movie about her and it's awesome.

The part at the end of this clip when her crew (her actual family) pulls up after her win brings tears to my eyes...

Animatronic Teddy Bear

I did the animatronics in this teddy bear for the Guillermo del Toro film "Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark"
He was radio controlled and the armature was made mostly from Meccano.

My desk in the workshop.
I used some of the components from my childhood radio controlled cars.

R2-B3

A sculpture i did some years ago of an R2 Unit. It also serves as an outdoor fire brazier and bbq.
The stainless steel head is lifted off and a circular bbq plate rests in it's place.

Speedway Fun

My good friend Jodi purchased a classic Suzuki GT750 speedway sidecar. He fixed it up and I have been "swinging" for him.

Zon-A-Tron

A Robot sculpture I made a while ago.
